The accident happened around 10:45 p.m. on February 5 on N. Chadbourne Street.

San Angelo, TX – An 81-year-old man was injured Thursday night after being struck by a vehicle in San Angelo, according to the authorities.

The accident happened around 10:45 p.m. on February 5 on N. Chadbourne Street.

Authorities said the man was riding his electric wheelchair northbound in the inside southbound lane and was traveling against the flow of traffic. An oncoming driver failed to see him due to poor visibility in the dark and crashed head-on into him.

The wheelchair overturned after the accident, and the man was ejected. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The accident closed N. Chadbourne Street between 17th and 18th streets.

The police are investigating the accident.
